The Obama family loves to rave about their First Dog Bo. And everyone always takes a collective awww at him. But now their is a new First Dog in town. Turns out that President Elect Trump’s youngest son Barron has a dog of his own!
The Trump family will be bringing in their golden-doodle dog into the White House. It is nine weeks old and is a cross between a golden retriever and a poodle. It was Lois Pope who gifted them the animal. Pope is a animal welfare advocate and philanthropist.
The dogs name is Patton, after Donald Trump’s World War II idol. Pope was able to capture a picture of the new pooch. The President Elect got to see the animal for the first time during Thanksgiving celebrations this year in Palm Beach at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Patton is considered a hero dog because he is the offspring of other military and service dogs. Pope said the following about new First Dog Patton,
“He is not a hero dog, but he comes from a lineage of hero dogs, dogs who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
Prior to Pope leaving Patton with the Trump family it had to pass Barron’s approval, said Trump. Turns out, they clicked, because the First Family will be bringing Patton with them come February when they move in.
“I’d never seen such a big smile on anyone’s face. It’s worth all this time and the trouble and effort putting into this for Barron. He is going to be a perfect dog for Barron. He is the one that I am really doing this for. That is going to be quite a transition for him. He is only ten years old and his dad is going to be the leader of the free world.”
Having a First Dog in the family is a one hundred and fifty year old tradition. One that I am sure the Trump’s do not want to break. It also looks like Patton will be the perfect addition to the family.
